In need of something extra for your visit? RAMM offers free WiFi, bee bags and explorer bags for children, trails and quizzes and more!

Free wifi

Getting online in the museum is easy with the free wifi network, enabling posts and tweets even while a visit is taking place. Just connect to RAMMuseum and follow the login instructions.

Bee bags

RAMM’s bee bags have been specially designed for parents and carers to make the most of a visit with young children. They contain a selection of toys and ideas for exploring, are free to use and can be borrowed from both receptions.

Explorer bags

Free for adventurous 7-14 year-olds, available from Garden reception.


Our quizzes can help you explore the collections, discover objects that you might otherwise miss and help you see others in a new light. Enjoy quizzes alone, in pairs or in small groups. Either buy your quizzes at reception or downloaded them here: Think Links 1 & 2, Think Links 3, Chinese New Year Trail and Treasure Trail.

Second World War Handling

Explore authentic second world war objects. Second and last Tuesdays in the month, 11am to 3pm in the Making History Gallery. Free

Roman handling

Explore the archaeology of Roman Devon and a selection of coins from the Seaton Down Hoard. First and third Thursday of the month in the Making History Gallery, 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Free


RAMM’s interactive exhibits offer the chance to try on Roman clothing, make a mosaic, examine microscope slides, have fun with a miniature medieval longhouse, learn about insect noises and build a bird: all are free.

School group visits

Schools please see our Young Visitors Information for teacher resources and Free Teacher Led Visits.  School bookings can be made online or telephone 01392 265858 for assistance. Please note our bookable guided tours, mentioned above, are generally only suitable for school groups of less than 20 children who are at least 8 years of age.
